Zari notices the cat following her around right away because of course she does. They’re on a time ship floating on the time stream, they don’t get strays climbing in through open windows. Which means–
“Who’s the cutest stowaway ever?” She coos, picking the cat up. It only mews in response, but Zari can’t help finding it strangely cheeky. “Yeah, that’s right, you are! Yes, you are!”
I am now 100% positive that when Cat flirts with Clark, especially in the season 2 finale, she is just making Kara jealous.
Cat knows Kara is Supergirl, so she probably knows Clark is Superman. It’s not that hard to figure out. So Cat is talking to them in a way that doesn’t let them know she know’s Kara’s identity, specifically, but also gets the message across that she believes in Supergirl.
So since in that whole scene, she is talking with a subtextual message, I believe the line “Oh those big green eyes; I promise you when he takes off those glasses he is a tiger in bed” is actually how she feels/thinks about Kara. But she changes a few words to fit Clark so she doesn’t scare Kara away.
However, while she says that line she is looking at Kara in a way that says ‘I’m talking about you’. But Kara is too blinded by her jealousy to realise it. When Kara then awkwardly chuckles and says “Oh god, I hope Rhea kills me”, it clearly shows she is jealous by the events of the scene.

Also - superman has blue eyes, it’s a fact.
So Cat ‘I notice everything’ Grant doesn’t even know what color his eyes are because let’s be honest… she doesn’t care. 😉

Kara’s stomach churns, because Cat always knows. How the hell does Cat always know?
“Oh please, we both know that Winslow is not capable of keeping his mouth shut,” Cat solves the mystery, and Kara’s stomach somersaults.
“It’s a good friend of mine.” She pauses and she keeps her arms crossed and she prays to Rao that this won’t be as scary as she’d imagined it to be. “And my girlfriend.”
She doesn’t look at her. Instead, she looks up at the sky. Toward Lena.
She can’t see Cat’s face, but she can hear her heartbeat skip. She can hear her heart rate speed up.
She plows into talking more, because she still can’t look at her. Still can’t, can’t, can’t. She sighs and she tosses her arms up.
“Maybe Alex and the president are right. Maybe it’s Supergirl’s responsibility to protect everyone. But all I can think about is the fact that the woman I love is trapped on that ship, and if we destroy it – “
Her voice falters and she prays for just a fraction of the strength Maggie had demonstrated when Alex was kidnapped.
“ – then she’s destroyed too, and that… that would break my heart.”
She sighs and she turns and she tries not to throw up, and she still refuses to look at Cat.
“It’s selfish.”
Cat objects – gently, gently, a slight tremor in her voice that Kara can’t quite place – before the word even finishes breathing its way out of her lips.
“No, no, it’s not selfish, Supergirl. It’s human.”
Kara turns to her, now, because Cat always knows – always knows exactly what’s wrong – and Kara wonders if she knows now, too, that Kara is struggling because if she were human, truly human, maybe Lena wouldn’t be in this mess, maybe –
“You’ve fallen in love, Supergirl, and that… that, as much as anything you’ve done, as much as any of the buildings or planes or people you’ve saved, means you belong here. You didn’t bring this fight here, Supergirl, and you certainly didn’t put your girlfriend up on that ship.”
“I could have stopped them from taking her – “
“I highly doubt there was anything you could have done. In my experience, Kara Danvers, when you want something done, if it’s at all possible, it gets done.”
“Kara Da – what – Ms. Grant, what are you – “
“You’re spluttering, dear, do mind that you don’t misplace your eyes if they pop any farther out of your head.”
“But – how did you – why would you – “
“Because I know you, Supergirl. I know you in all your forms. And I know that when you put your mind, your heart, behind something, you’re going to achieve it. You want to save your girlfriend?”
There’s a long, long pause, and Kara almost gathers the courage to look at Cat. Almost.
“Then she is the luckiest person on this planet, because she will be saved, and by the most heroic knight of our generation, no less. I will claim some credit, of course, both for grooming you and for this rousing pep talk.”
Kara can’t help but smile and Cat can’t help but return it, even if it’s a little sad on the edges.
“How’s Carter?” Kara blurts suddenly, because she realizes that the question’s been buzzing in the back of her mind for a while now, since she got his last letter and hadn’t had the time or energy to respond.
Since Alex.
“Well, you know, he enjoyed his time away with his mother, but I think we’re both ready to come back and expand our horizons right in the place we started.”
Kara’s eyes light up and Cat shakes her head softly.
“Another time, Supergirl. Chop chop. You have a woman to save. Not to mention a planet.”
Kara chuckles, almost more to herself than anyone else, and her voice is low, almost husky, when she turns to her and tells her, “I really missed your advice, Ms. Grant.”
Cat almost smiles. Almost indulges. Almost.
“And I’ve really missed giving it. Now shoo. Up up and away, no time to lose.”
Kara smiles, exhales hard, and uncrosses her arms, and Cat watches as she reaches them to the sky and positively soars.
She leans back on her hands and watches, watches, shaking her head and sighing to herself.
“That is still so hot,” she whispers, and she wonders if Supergirl’s superhearing can pick that up, and she wonders how she lived a single day without… this.
it’s interesting, to hear supergirl tell cat ‘you are the most arrogant, self serving, mean-spirited person i know.’ Because with everyone else? All that she’s saying is pretty new, never heard before. Except, we’ve already heard Kara say something like this to Cat before-when Cat’s mother was in town, and then Kara accidentally lost control of her temper yelled at Cat why are you so mean? Sure, not nearly as bad as what she told Cat this time, but it shows that these thoughts don’t just appear from thin air. They exist, in a small dark part of herself that Kara’s afraid of, that she never wants anyone to ever see, and so she buries it. Except, that isn’t an option this episode, because sometimes Kara is just so filled with pain and rage and hurt that for a fleeting second she wants everyone else to hurt with her, and then she remembers why she never wants that for anyone, but the thought is there. It happened. And we got to see all of it on display.
And honestly it’s a little bit why I’m so annoyed at James this episode at the end “Just to know that you have this anger inside of you..”
You have someone who lost everything, her family, friends, language, culture, her entire world, everything, (also let’s not forget astra just died like a week ago) and you’re surprised to learn that she has a dark side, and is capable of a lot of anger?????? It’s the fact that while she is capable of such hate and anger, day after day, when she’s not under the sway of a synthetic chemical specifically designed to hurt her anyway, she chooses light and smiles and sticking up for random little girls on the street and laughter.

Kara thinks sometimes she’s the only one that sees the way Eve looks at Lena. Probably because she saw Eve when she almost cried at Cat Grant. When she did cry at Cat Grant. When she got more confident under James. And then when she finally seemed to find her place under Lena.
Kara helped her, when she found out Lena was going to be her boss. Eve did reach out to Lena’s assistant. Jess refused point-blank to give out any information to Eve, no matter Eve’s credentials. Eve reached out to Kara for help. Kara, who chuckled and texted Jess, she’s clean, Cerberus. She’ll take good care of her.
(Jess insisted upon meeting Eve. Jess did this through Kara after about a week of Lena running CatCo. Kara obligingly called Jess over for lunch and then finally felt she understood the phrase big dick energy watching Jess coolly size up Eve like she was Cat freaking Grant in an office that wasn’t even hers, there on a purpose that wasn’t even official.)
(Eve drew herself up under the inspection, spine straightening with unseen steel and shoulders dropping back as she eyed Jess with all the determination she’d never seen from her before. Jess watched her, stone cold, as Eve answered a phone call, made a note, and hung up the call civilly all without breaking eye contact. Jess watched her slowly, disdain still faint in her eyes, and nodded stiffly when Eve straightened back up.
“You’ll do,” Jess said. “Here’s a file of things about Ms. Luthor that will help.” And with that she turned to a stunned and very entertained Kara to presume the pretense of lunch as Lena walked up, pleasant surprise on her face to see Jess, no trace of her previous towering intimidation on her face.)
(Eve sat down a little shakily and pressed a hand to her chest when Jess left for the balcony with Kara. Kara spotted her go a little soft while waving off a concerned Lena, who had passed her on the way to grab her lunch to join Jess and Kara. Eve had a little more success convincing Lena she really didn’t want to join them for lunch, but thank you so much, Ms. Luthor.)
Kara saw the way she was thrilled to deliver Lena coffee. Lena was kind, always. Lena always said thank you, Eve, with a small smile. Eve said my pleasure, of course, Ms. Luthor with a much larger smile and a bounce.
Kara saw the feverish light in Eve’s eyes when she sat at her CatCo desk with a stack of physics or something scientific journals. When asked, she explained delightedly she was pulling double duty until James’ new assistant could get here. She’d been poached, she said with a thrill. She was going back to L-Corp with Lena. She sounded like she was a ten year old going to live at Disneyland.
Eve was used to people underappreciating her.
Kara gets it. The undercurrent of kindness and deep love Cat always had for her was missing in Eve’s relationship with her. James is much kinder, but their relationship is surface level. Eve admired his work ethic, maybe. But she never signed up to work for him. Lena was like rolling in monopoly, expecting to land in jail again, and getting the jackpot somehow.
Eve was in heaven under Lena. Anyone would be. Kara understood the way she flourished under Lena’s gentle attention and positive encouragement and the way she was just inspiring to be around. Kara had done well with Lena just as a friend. It was natural to have an admiration of her. Totally.
Still. Kara sometimes wondered if it went deeper. And Kara didn’t even know about the “nice green eyes” comment.
Alright so it’s clear that Cat knows Kara is Supergirl based on the fact that she knew Barry and James were superheroes immediately so I feel like the writers are just going to keep this going until the series finale and end the series with Supergirl saving Cat again and then Cat saying “thanks Kara” then walking away with Kara’s face of shock in the background
Honestly my favorite thing about this episode was that you could physically see how much Calista loves playing Cat. Like the pure joy she gets from slipping back into the character. It just made me so goddam emotional. No one loves Cat more than Calista loves Cat, and damn if it doesn’t show.
